Amber believes that holding an open environment of trust and encouragement is essential to ignite change in our lives. Her goal is to support each individual to have the abilty to explore thoughts and feelings in a safe, comforting dynamic.
Amber is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), who has accreditations of National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Consultant (CADACII). She is a graduate of Walden University, Minneapolis MN, with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and an undergraduate degree of Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ashford University, Clinton IA.
While working on her graduate degree, Amber held a case manager position supporting individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities obtaining services through the Medicaid Waiver Program. She then worked with incarcerated individuals to address substance use issues and mental health needs. Amber has experience working with children, families, teenagers, and older adults. Her background includes leading substance abuse programs in prisons and jails, providing in-home and community based individual counseling and therapeutic supervised visits for families involved with DCS, and facilitating intensive substance abuse psychoeducational groups at community health clinics.
Amber has enjoyed working as a mental health counselor across Indiana in community mental health clinics, prisons, jails, and through tele health platforms. She has experience in working with individuals and groups in addressing parenting issues, relationship stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use issues. Amber utilizes a variety of treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Coping Skills (DBT Coping Skills), and Psychoeducational groups to provide Trauma Informed Client Centered support.
